“Alchemy Of Women” Gifts Authenticity To Women Around The World
In November, an international collaboration of women celebrated 50 years from The Year of The Woman in Palacio Sottomayor in Lisbon, Portugal, involving over 100 women. The global initiative was produced by Mira Kopanarov and Elina Serkedzhieva and supported by PwC Portugal and Elfy Tours, Bulgaria.
“Alchemy of Women” is a research creation exhibition of women’s stories on the topic of What is Success? It aimed to question reemerging labour and social normativity concepts often scrutinized despite modern emancipatory promises. On the 75th anniversary of The Year of The Woman, a team of international artists facilitated communication between interdisciplinary women. 100 women shared their story of success in an on-line and in-person acts of storytelling. The research creation showed the resilient and inspiring side of women across sales, journalism, real estate, health, tax, government affairs, and food and beverage. The project welcomed representatives from Chile, Peru, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Canada, United States, Spain, Mauritius, Hong Kong, Portugal, Belgium, and Norway. Two of the participants brought their infant and teenage daughters. Not a single woman defined success with material growth or individual prosperity. Yet, many shared the unconventional paths of career development while navigating inherent cultural and business barriers. The topics spanned across physical and mental health, stereotypes of career development and professional skill sets, the gender pay gap, loneliness, familial and community responsibilities, funding, competition and policy challenges. A culminating digital magazine united all elements of the exhibition, allowing the information to flow from the sources of experiences using art as a gatekeeper of authenticity.

On November 10, 2025, women from interdisciplinary fields gathered in person and via an interactive exhibit to discuss What is Success? A heartfelt storytelling that is poised to change how we do power! From the social media platforms we use to the funding opportunities for women entrepreneurs, many gaps need immediate attention to address how women are framed and asked to work. What we discovered is that there is incredible talent and experience that can inspire change and build sustainable, slower-moving, and more authentic connections and solutions. In times of epochal shifts, women celebrated 50 years from The Year of the Woman with beautiful stories. Thank you for being part of it!
